4.0 Short Name Evaluations

Your Minor Name (Expression) Number
Instead of your full name as mentioned in your birth certificate, this calculation is done on the basis of the name you currently use or use to introduce yourself. The Minor Expression number then is based on the current (or short) name, the name you now use to introduce yourself including your last name.

The influence of the short name is minor in comparison to your full name. Interestingly, the short name often compensates in some way for numbers (and their related characteristics) that are missing or out of balance in the full name.

For instance, a number missing in the full name may show up prominently in the short name; or a number (or numbers) that appears in excess in the full name can be compensated for in the short name. If a name change takes place later in life through marriage or for professional reasons, it adds or subtracts certain qualities. It can also focus and intensify existing characteristics or talents that may be latent.

As a rule, don't change your name on impulse. Marriage, of course, does not leave much room for choice, although more and more women are hyphenating their names or staying with their maiden names. However, if you must change your name (for professional reasons, for example), try to choose a name already in your family, and thus connected to you through your ancestors. Those characteristics are already present in your lineage, which makes the new name easier to assimilate into your personality.

In answer to some commonly asked questions when it comes to short names:
  1. The short name is the name you feel closest to in relaxed and social settings.
  2. The short name is the name you would use when thinking about yourself, including your last name.
  3. When figuring out the Minor Expression number, never use the middle initial, unless you introduce yourself with that initial, such as: "Hi, I'm Tom J. Hancock."
  4. Names you have used in the past reveal inner feelings and characteristics that were prominent during that period in your life. If you are no longer using that name, it bears no resemblance to your current identity.
In numerology your current(minor) name, or the name you introduce yourself as, reveals how and what you think of yourself. This is truly how you see or express yourself walking your path in the now.

To find your Minor Expression number, use the same formula used to find the Expression number, but apply this formula to the name you now use to introduce yourself, including your last name.

In summary then, the Minor expression number is a summary of a "short" person's name.
"Short" name is the name which is most frequently used calling you. It is the name that you find most appropriate in your social environment. If you are married and changed your name, then it will be your \"short\" name. \"Short\" name is something that you use when thinking about yourself. Who are you? What name best reflects your inner self? Calculating the number of minor expressions, never use intermediate initials, unless you actually use them. Names that you used in the past express your feelings and characteristics of that period, not of now. If you no longer use that name, it no longer reflects your essence.
The effect of short name is weaker than that of full name. Interestingly, short name in some way compensates for the number (and its corresponding characteristics) of full name.
